Phunking Music Video Diary
Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!!! What can I say?! What an amazing day! I normally hate working at the weekend but this time it was it amazingly different. Forget the usual humdrum of my office job, this is what I love doing and wish I could do this everyday!
5am start waking up, packing my suitcase and guess what? I'm not even tired - That's the performing buzz for you!
7.30am and I'm in the lovely Shoreditch, filming the first scenes and I guess what? I get to start in bed - brilliant! Then comes the shower scene where I get to get my kit off... more Mr Muscle than Brad Pitt, but hey, it's what I do second best (in case your wondering, singing my first best). Then comes they very colourful street scenes in the sounding areas and back streets and i have a crowd of people watching me from their balconies. Too high up to be signing autographs though!
11.30am and we pull up to St John's Church in Waterloo, a fabulous location found by the great Phink TV Crew. Underneath the church and is an old crypt, very cold, dark and dirty but a great place for my crazy scene. I was setting fire to paper, shaving my hair, smashing light bulbs and screaming so much the crew told me to shut up! I was covered head to toe in dirt by the end of it!
1pm Green Screen Craziness is what they called it and that's exactly what it was. Crazy dancing, wearing crazy clothes, we must have done about 30 different takes. I know this section is gonna look so good.
5pm Tube Scene. We're at Bethnal Green acting very secretive. We've got a special performance to give the tube passengers, heading out to paint the town red. Mista Wilson is in his best suit clobber and I'm shouting is his face, acting very rude - I think I take him by surprise.
7pm and we're heading to Soho. All the bright lights and swanky bars look very inviting in the pouring rain. We're waiting to film more street scenes but the weather is not letting up. So we head to the sex shops and start filming.
8.30pm and we're on the way to Greenwich. We meet some pompous moron, who works for the BBC 'I work for the BBC' he kept on telling anyone who would listen and then decided to tell me what he thought of our marketing campaign. Does that mean I'm like Marmite... Love it or hate it? Oh well you can't please everyone!
We finish the filming in Greenwich Tunnel and from the pictures I've seen so far, It looks like the perfect backdrop. It ended on such a high and I'm going to carry on that buzz.
So that's my first professional music video under my belt and I can't wait for all of you to see it.
Thanks to Mista Wilson, Ady and Grant, the boys at Phink TV. I'm going miss you shouting out HITCHENS!!! Rozie Jackson my wonderful make up artist, who puts up with my constant laughing while she's trying to apply my foundation and Kevin Totts, the fantastic brother-in-law who happens to be a brilliant photographer awell.... what can I say? Talent obviously runs in the family!

A third single has been decided. The single is called 'Bachelor' and will be available to download from iTunes on Monday 6th July.
The audio track will be added to the site in the next few days. It's a club track, so get ready to dance!

Let it Snow!

How are you?
Everything is ready and in motion for the filiming of the music video for 'Let's Talk' I've just been delayed by the blimin' snow!! So I'll keep you posted and it should be online in the next couple of weeks!
The concept for the video is going to be wicked! I won't give too much away but you can expect to see lots of gambling and loads of water!!

EXCLUSIVE REVIEW ON STEVEN HITCHEN’S DEBUT SINGLE “WHOOPS”

When I heard the title of talented young singer songwriter Steve Hitchens debut single 'Whoops' I thought 'oh no not one of those naff, catchy songs that are usually released in the run up to Christmas'. You know what I mean - the type of song that gets played for years to come at weddings and birthday parties that gets the grandparents up dancing with the kids. But, I promised to listen to and review Whoops so here goes.
On first listen I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is one of those catchy songs, but it doesn't remind me of anything else and has grown on me every time that I've listened to it. 'Whoops' suggests mistakes and the song is about a guy who cheats on his partner and is caught out and not for the first time. He wants forgiveness from the partner that he loves but you sorta know that it will happen again.
The chorus 'Whoops did I do it again' made me think about works Christmas parties and the embarrassing mistakes that happen. Imagine for weeks afterwards your workmates compounding your embarrassment with a rendition of the chorus every time that they see you!
As a debut single I like 'Whoops'. It's catchiness, upbeat tempo and singalongability score in its favour and especially as we are heading towards Christmas when it could become popular as a party livener. As a dance tune it also scores good in my book. I found myself wanting to dance and if a dance craze attaches itself to 'Whoops' who knows how well it will do.
Singer Steven Hitchens who comes from Surrey in the UK certainly has the look of a pop star. I'm sure that the girls will love his moody good looks – I know that I do! Whoops will be available from most digital retailers from November 3rd. As Steve will be releasing his first album next year I'm sure that we will hear much more from him in the future.
Competition so far for the Christmas season is Alesha Dixon's 'The Boy Does Nothing'. Played back to back with 'Whoops' at a club or party – that sounds like a fun time to me.

Charity Gig Triple Bill
